A miracle of modern science...despite the price!

I despise cold sores. I Despise them. I despise them with such uncontrolled fury and passion that if I were to be judged at the time of my death, and the theme of my burning hatred came up(no pun proposed), Heaven wouldn't want me, and Hell would just plain dread me. But after so many years of putting up with this plague, there is a key.
I usually get fever sores(cold sores) about 8-10 times a year. Usually every 2 months, I get a new rash around my lips. It could be a minor rash, with a simple small bump on the upper or lower lip, or a grotesque rash cluster of about 4-7 sores at once. Usually, these sores last 1-2 weeks, sometimes longer. The day I exposed Abreva, that all changed.
As it states, Abreva cuts down the duration of cold sores quite dramatically. If you manage to detect a cold sore as it just starts to form (usually indicated by a burning or scratchy sensation on the lip area), application of Abreva will possibly event prevent the rash completely. Upon a breakout of sores, I find that consistent application cuts the duration of sores from 1-2 weeks to a mere 1-3 days! Don't beleive the utterly ridiculous accusations that Abreva is a placebo...this stuff works, and it works well.
Aside from cold down the duration of the sore, Abreva also releives any burning and itching you may get from them, so after a while you may not even realize that they're there. The cream is comfortable, and it doesn't sting, burn or itch after application. Though the white cream leaves a film after application, if you rub it in fervently the film disappears. Though the box recommends 4 applications a day, I usually double that to 8, and up to 10 times a day for those above all brutal outbreaks.
There are some disadvantages to Abreva, and perhaps the utmost of all: the price!
Amazon.com, bless them, has this item listed at 13.99...try result Abreva at that price anywhere else and you're in for a shocker...it usually goes for $18 on mean, and we're discussion a VERY small tube here. Don't let the size of the box fool you, the actual tube is less than half the size of my pinky finger! So in small, the cream is a marvel, but the price is simply outrageous. If you are plagued with cold sores on a routine basis, then its worth the price. If not, then I can't justify costs $18 on Abreva if you only get cold sores once in a blue moon. But like I said, thank you Amazon for the much cheaper price!
A further disadvantage is that the tube tends to leak. Upon notch the tube for the first time, the cream tends to stat pushing itself out. When you open the tube for next use, you may find that alot of the cream has been squished into the cap, and that more of it will push out at once upon the cap being not very excellent. This leads to a lot of waste of the manufactured goods.
A further disadvantage is that the cream is virtually ineffective at treating cold sores that appear on the underside of the lip closer to the inside of your mouth, mainly because you'll end up inadvertantly licking the cream off or it will get washed away by your saliva.
Irrevocably, the cream dries your lips up quite alot...I would urge using chapstick to wet your lips while using Abreva, because they will become very dry and chapped with frenziedly usage.
Overall, Abreva is one of the utmost things to happen to us cold sore slaves ever. Herpicin-L is utterly a waste of time, Campophenique does small more than burn, dry out and taste dreadful, and chapstick only exacerbates the sore. Abreva is the way to go. If you can justify gunfire out the cash for Abreva, then by all means, do it. Those of us that get manifold outbreaks a year will like it. Others who rarely get them needn't apply, unless the breakout is above all brutal. |
Irrevocably! Something that beats voodoo medicine.

| Psst! Let me tell you a secret. I've been plagued with cold sores for perhaps forty years. I've never kept a meticulous record, but it seems one has appeared on a semi-periodic basis every three to six months or so. (When I lived in the South - Mississippi, in fact - for 15 months, I was curiously unafflicted for the entire time. Perhaps it was the diet of spinach greens, grits, fried chicken and Moon Pies.) I've tried everything. Applying hot poultices of puréed whale blubber and the rattles from two-headed rattlesnakes. Dancing naked under a full moon belting out the theme song to "Green Acres". Consulting shifty-eyed herbalists in refuse-strewn back alleys from Cairo to Lhassa. Sacrificing virgins. But, nothing has had the slightest remedial effect - until ABREVA. After forking over Huge Bucks the first time for a teensy-weensy tube, it was a earth-Earth-shattering self-revelation to deliberate how desperate I'd become. But, further than of that rip-roaring excellent time I once loved in that flyblown Tripoli hotel room, it's the best money I've ever spent. The key to using ABREVA is to get it on the site of the budding tarnish as soon as you can, and ideally when you first feel that unique tingle that screams, "You'd be better off with leprosy!" Without even excusing yourself to visit the loo, apply it during that power affair lunch if you have to. In my experience over the last year and a half, the ointment stops cold the development of the blister. It's powerful stuff. Now, I realize that my fiscal help here is purely anecdotal and not based on any scientific study I've done on a pork-barrel government grant. But, hey, what have you got to lose? Especially if you're learning, as I did, that two-headed rattlesnakes are becoming simpler to find than virgins, and those Third World back alleys are being bulldozed for McDonald's franchises. |

I've suffered from cold sores since I was in elementary school. Back then all I could do was run cold water over my lips and question my mother for the numbing toothache medicine to soothe the pain.
Nowadays I rarely get a cold sore, but they're highly inconvenient when I do, so I irrevocably caved in and tried Abreva as soon as I felt the ever-so familiar itch on my lip. I followed the information--5-6 times a day application. Even woke up in the middle of the night to apply.
Results? I didn't have a full blown break out this time, and the one blister that did break out was honestly small and unobtrusive. Five days after the first itch the area has scabbed over completely.
I highly urge this manufactured goods to anyone distress from cold sores. The key is to be vigilant. Buy this NOW before you feel the twinge. As soon as you feel it, apply the creme. Be industrious. Apply the creme 5-6 times per day. Let the creme soak in and dry up on your lip. Be hygenic. Wash your hands before and after applying the creme.
This manufactured goods may not work for all, but it worked for me.
(In person I urge the pump translation because one squirt of the pump gives you a leisurely, even dose every time) |

Ok, I've read a lot of excellent and terrible reviews on this manufactured goods. As with any manufactured goods like this you are going to have varied results. I just thought that I'd place my two cents in because I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I useful this cream just after the magic "tingle" phase. To be honest I wasn't in the family way much. I've been disappointed a million times in the past with every other stupid cream that claims to reduce the remedial time. I've tried them all believe me. But this one (for me) was nothing small of incredible. My breakout started on Friday and it is now Monday, it started as three separate blisters. Now usually those three (sometimes five) blisters start to converge.....making one nasty inflated blister. Though after applying the cream all weekend (its now Monday) all three blisters are now in their remedial phase. They stayed separate from each other and there is no puffiness at all. It just looks like I have a dry patch on my lip. (Normally I would look like a freak at this stage like I had been punched in the lip would be discomfited to be in public). So for me.... success, and I would urge this manufactured goods to anyone. This is the best over the counter manufactured goods void. I know that's not saying much considering the crap that's out there but at least there is irrevocably a small hope for sufferers.
Its a small pricey, but I've spent so much money on all those small tubes of Lipactin that just dry up and sit in my bathroom. I found that this small tube was worth every penny. |

| This is the first cold sore treatment I have found that with early application at the first sign of scratchy factually stops the growth of the cold sore. In a week it was gone.....this stuff really works! |
